Mozart’s Requiem
Concert Location: University City | Concert Date: TBD
This season, our featured work is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626, one of the most celebrated masterpieces of the choral-orchestral repertoire. Left unfinished at Mozart’s death in 1791 and later completed by his student Franz Xaver Süssmayr, the Requiem has inspired generations with its blend of dramatic intensity and haunting beauty. From the thunderous opening “Dies irae” to the serene “Lacrimosa,” the work captures the full range of human emotion — fear, grief, hope, and transcendence. Its powerful fusion of choir and orchestra invites both singers and listeners into a profound musical and spiritual journey, making it a cornerstone in symphonic chorale repertoire
